DarkZero Esports recruits player from unsigned ALGS team just hours before roster lock deadline

According to the captain of the unsigned ALGS team Meat Lovers, Will ‘TeQ’ Starck, DarkZero Esports has recruited a player away from the Meat Lovers and added them to their roster just hours before the roster lock deadline. The replacement for Beau ‘RamBeau‘ Sheidy on DarkZero Esports’ roster for ALGS Split 2 will be Brody ‘Xynew’ Geissler, formerly of the unsigned team Meat Lovers. DarkZero Esports is in the process of finalizing the signing of Geissler. The opportunity to play for the team that won the ALGS Championship in 2022 was too enticing for RamBeau to pass up, so he came out of retirement to join DarkZero.

According to TeQ, the captain of Meat Lovers, DarkZero has decided to go in a new route, despite having had some excellent successes on the roster. The former Sentinels player turned to Twitter on May 1 to ask Jamison “PVPX” Moore and Rhys “Zer0” Perry, the coach and IGL for DarkZero, respectively, to decide which Meat Lover’s player they wanted to poach before the Split 2 playoff roster lock.

According to TeQ, the esports organization took the decision to recruit Xynew just a few hours later, which meant that the IGL needed more time to locate a suitable successor. The rosters for each team in the league are supposed to be finalized one week before the match day begins, as stated in the rulebook for the ALGS.

The last day of North America matches will be May 7. Teams that are able to advance to the Split 2 Playoffs are under an additional obligation to keep the same players on their final match-day squad for the LAN competition.

The DarkZero team now sits in fourth position in the North American ALGS standings and is on track to qualify for the Split 2 Playoffs. In the Split 2 Playoffs, the team finished in 13th place. Therefore they will be looking to improve on that result. Meat Lovers are currently ranked ninth in the table, and if they keep up their impressive play on the day of the final matches, they should be able to qualify for the LAN competition and compete there. DarkZero has yet to announce that Xynew will be joining the team, and the update has yet to be made to their Battlefy page.
