Oxygen Esports defeated Disguised by a 2-0 to earn their first victory of the second split of the North American Challengers League. This victory came on the same day that Jaccob “Yay” Whiteaker made his debut for the content creator-run esports organization.
As Yay made his return to professional play, the opening match of the second split of the North American Challengers League included Disguised. This match was the subject of tremendous anticipation. Fans watched the game from Jeremy “Disguised Toast” Wang and Tarik “Tarik” Celik’s co-streams as well as the main Knight Arena broadcast. As many as 116,000 peak viewers tuned into the series across all of the various streams. Oxygen maintained a lead throughout the first map, Haven, which resulted in a 13-6 victory for Oxygen over the Disguised team. Disguised kept the game closer than it should have been when it went into overtime on Map 2, Pearl, but Oxygen was able to pull out the win 15-13.
When Disguised joined, several of its players were given new responsibilities. For example, Joseph “Clear” Allen was promoted to Controller from Duelist, and yeah was given responsibility for the Jett role on the team. Michael ‘Nerve’ Yerrow, another recruit for Disguised, joined the Sentinels as a member of the team.
While everything was going on, Oxygen Esports made some adjustments. Rustun “Rustun” Lusk, an assistant coach for the club, came in as a substitute for the match and played the Sentinel role.
Disguised Valorant makes its debut!
He has completed the competition with 173 ACS, a kill/death ratio of 28/26, and a headshot rate of 28%. This is a good scoreline by any means. Still, compared to the high expectations set for his return to professional play, it wasn’t the breakout performance that supporters of his OpTic glory days wanted to see from him.
Since yeah was kicked out of Cloud9 later in the month leading up to the VCT Americas competition on February 24, 2023, this was his first professional Valorant match since February 18, 2023.
Yay was without a home for close to two months as a result of the VCT rosters being locked in after March and many teams already having their lineups determined before that time. On April 27, when they take on Shopify Rebellion, Disguised and Yay will have a chance to earn their first victory in the NA Challengers competition.
