Seth ‘Scump’ Abner Takes on Apex Legends: From Call of Duty Pro to Apex Predator Aspirant

Seth ‘Scump’ Abner, one of the best Call of Duty professional players of all time, has been practicing Apex Legends since quitting competitive play and is now aiming for the game’s top position. Before declaring his retirement before the 2023 CDL Season, Scump participated in CoD for more than 12 years, winning 30 tier 1 events, including the World Championship in 2017.

Throughout his career as a competitor, he consistently showed his skill in other shooters, like Valorant and CS:GO. Since retiring, he has focused mainly on Valorant. Still, he is currently focusing on Apex, where he utilizes a controller again, precisely as he did during his CoD days. He now aims to reach the top position.

Scump desires to go from “wood to pred” in Apex

Scump joined Damon ‘Karma’ Barlow in joining Apex, and their broadcast was themed “wood to pred” to reflect their goal of climbing from the lowest rank to the highest. But only the finest rank grinders and professional players who have dedicated their whole playing careers to the game may reach Predator. In addition, Season 18 of Apex, when all rankings will be reset, is just a little over a month away for Scump. Scump confirmed that he is ultimately “addicted” to grinding Apex by posting a video of his abilities on Twitter.

He blasts down an entire squad while scarcely missing a shot, demonstrating that his marksmanship from his years of playing Call of Duty hasn’t yet failed him. In another film, he displays a “one-clip kill,” eliminating a fully armored foe without reloading. Few would question his ability when some fans asked him to “go pro in Apex” in the comments, but Scump may not be eager to return to the grind of professional gaming so soon after his CoD retirement.

And as many professional players will testify, having an excellent aim in Apex Legends can only get you so far. Scump must become an expert in mobility, looting, and legend skills to advance to the predator tier. But for now, viewers of Scump and Respawn’s battle royale may enjoy his broadcasts as he tries to master the game and climb to the top position.
