Persona Collaboration on the Horizon? Overwatch 2 Developers Express Interest in Crossover Event

The developers of Overwatch 2 have acknowledged the requests made by fans for a Persona crossover event to take place at some point in the future. Blizzard’s legendary hero shooter is completely embracing crossovers for its next sequel. Previously, the developer worked with One Punch Man to incorporate some of the game’s most popular skins into the game.

Following the event’s popularity, the crew has indicated an interest in working on a potential crossover with Crew Fortress, and they have even mentioned some hero skin ideas if a Dragon Ball Z collaboration is ever realized. The developers are looking into the possibility of collaborating with yet another intellectual property (IP) in the form of the Persona series.

Within a tweet, a fan asked the game’s Executive Producer, Jared Neuss, and several other devs if they’d ever contemplate the possibility of a crossover event involving several different video games.

The fan-submitted the following request: “Please make it so that Overwatch 2 and Nier Automata collaborate on skins (or Persona series).” In addition to tagging Neuss and Game Director Aaron Keller, the fan also ordered the President of the United States, NASA, Beyonce, and Oprah. This is a typical meme used when asking for a remark from an account with fewer followers.

Neuss’s response to the Nier Automata proposition was to disregard it entirely; however, he did indicate some interest in Overwatch collaborating with Persona.

I am a massive fan of the Persona series. Therefore, I would be excited to participate in this collaboration. In his response, he referred to Beyonce’s alter ego and her third studio album and said, “Let’s see if Sasha Fierce can make it happen for us.” Gavin Jurgens-Fyhrie, the Lead Narrative Designer, added his two cents to the conversation by remarking, “NASA is going to pull through on this one, I bet.”

Although this does not prove that there will be a crossover across Persona games, it is encouraging to see the developers making such frequent efforts to engage with the audience. Since a new collaboration is scheduled for either during Season 7 or a little bit later, we will hopefully be able to find out what they have in store for us.
