A significant cutscene from Week 5 of Destiny 2’s Season of the Deep just went live, revealing more about the Final Shape, the Veil, and the Witness than the rest of Lightfall’s campaign. The lengthy Light and Dark Saga of Destiny 2 is nearly over. The Light and Dark storyline, which dates back to Destiny 1, tells the tale of the Traveller, the Guardians, and the Light. In subsequent additions, more details regarding the Witness, the Darkness, and the enigmatic Veil that we learned about in Lightfall have come to light.
Unfortunately, the player base found Lightfall’s narrative to be lacking. We were told many things about the Veil, but we didn’t learn anything about it. Because of the absence of knowledge, Bungie was forced to announce that Season of the Deep would bring new details concerning the Veil. Five weeks into Season of the Deep, we have received a significant cutscene that provided many more details about what will happen before The Final Shape.
The most recent cutscene from Destiny 2, the Final Shape, the Veil, and the Witness
The cutscene played during the most recent weekly task describes the Witness’s origin and the precise nature of the Final Shape. The cutscene claims that the Final Shape alludes to the Traveller and the Veil union to produce a “perfect” cosmos. An ancient extraterrestrial culture discovered the Traveller and dubbed it the “Gardener”. They derived benefits from it and subsequently created the Witness. They eventually began looking for a purpose for their existence and set off in their Pyramid ships. Also, they discovered the Veil during this time, which they ultimately claimed.
They realized that while the Traveller (or the Light) could change the laws of physics and create life, it could as readily bring about destruction. The species learned Darkness and researched the Veil to neutralize the Traveller’s strength and prevent its unpredictable nature. The Traveller ran away when given the Veil. The alien culture sacrificed itself using the power of Darkness to construct the Witness to “impose meaning on a meaningless universe” to pursue the Traveller. With the scary sentence, the cutscene concludes with the Traveller. “One that is almost over.” We’ll learn additional details and story developments in the upcoming seasons, with The Final Shape concluding the saga entirely.
