Amid a somewhat rocky introduction to the game’s newest feature, Routes, a Pokemon Go player on the Reddit website, has proposed the optimal solution for the problem. The Routes component of Pokemon Go was released in the middle of July 2023, and simultaneously, a Special Research quest led to the release of Zygarde.
The launch of Routes has been described as “very poor” by several players, which has forced Niantic to respond as users post their criticisms on social media. One trainer on Reddit has given the ideal solution for people who are having trouble locating the path that leads to their destination, and others agree with this assessment.

A user named Byotan submitted suggestions for how Niantic should improve Routes by posting them in the subreddit for The Silph Road. “Routes should be visible on stops and gyms,” remarked those individuals. “Routes should be shown on the overworld map, similar to how contests are displayed, or at the very least. They should be accessible through photo discs. The current system could be more precise, particularly for younger players and more experienced players.
“Visual hints are crucial. Imagine if every POI had the same appearance, and you had to open a menu to determine whether or not a location was a PokeStop or a gym. It doesn’t feel right to check the nearby tab every few meters; it completely breaks the illusion of immersion.”
Users instantly shared their thoughts on the concept in the comments section of the page, with many expressing a desire for the additional capabilities to be included in the video game. One user retorted, “So much logic in this post that if a Niantic employee read this, he won’t understand at all,” in response to another user’s comment. Another user commented, saying, “This would be wonderful. However, Niantic is unable even to release the routes. Unfortunately, whether Niantic will ever include an overworld notification for available Routes is still being determined. Because of this, we will have to wait to see what changes will occur shortly.
