ImperialHal Claims Apex Legends Popularity Decline Due to ‘Bland’ Content and Troublesome Ranked System

TSM’s Philip ‘ImperialHal’ Dosen gave several explanations for why he believes Apex Legends has recently lost popularity, including adding a lot of “bland” content. Games like Apex Legends and Warzone have been struggling, despite having yet to have any new games introduced to the battle royale in a while. In recent weeks, players have abandoned both games in favor of playing other games. 

Many have attributed Apex’s issues to the game’s current state, just before a significant update is delivered. Recently, Respawn has mostly stayed the same, and players are getting tired of how monotonous things have become, particularly in Ranked play.  During a recent broadcast, ImperialHal repeated that general attitude and explained why he believes the game has gotten a touch stale, citing the “terrible” Ranked system as one of the causes.

Hal claims that Apex Legends is in its “worst state” ever

The TSM pro remarked, “I feel like they (Respawn) think, ‘Okay, we’re just catering to casuals, and then we’re just going to make the content so uninteresting that nobody can watch the game.  Due to troubles with Ranked and being matched with players who have far lower skill levels than you, Hal said, the battle royale is in the “worst state it’s ever been.” We only have the ability to play Ranked, and nobody wants to watch people play it.

Regarding viewership, it’s incredible how hard it seems like Apex carries the game. Hal concurred with the statement made by another player that the game would be “dead” without competitive Apex and remarked, “If we didn’t have comp Apex, I don’t even know. 

The TSM star added that he hardly ever sees people he follows on Twitch streaming the battle royale and that many streamers and content producers have switched to other games. Because it’s difficult, he continued that only some of the content creators in this game survive.  It’s unknown whether the alleged significant changes in the upcoming Apex season will help things improve.
