Sentinels bench TenZ for remainder of VCT Americas split, Marved to continue playing in starting lineup

The Sentinels have announced that Tyson ‘TenZ’ Ngo will remain on the bench for the remainder of the VCT Americas split, while Jimmy ‘Marved‘ Nguyen will continue to play. It has been revealed that TenZ has resigned from his position on the Sentinels Valorant roster and that substitute player Marved will continue to take TenZ’s place in the starting lineup. TenZ had an injury to his finger and had a positive test result. Therefore, the Sentinels decided to give him the week off during Week 4 of the VCT Americas. The squad was able to snap a three-match losing trend with Marved filling in for MIBR as they defeated LOUD 2-0 and took all three maps against them.

In an announcement video, Sentinels head coach Adam ‘Kaplan’ Kaplan said, “After the previous weekend’s results as well as a good talk with TenZ, we’ve decided to start Marved for the rest of the league split.” Marved will play for the Sentinels for the remainder of the league split. The head coach continued by saying that he has faith that his team will be able to continue where they left off for Week 5 and that TenZ is “not going anywhere.” Additionally, he stated that the team’s objective is to compete in the VCT Masters Tokyo and represent the region.

TenZ is going to be replaced by Marved on Sentinels for the remainder of VCT Americas

After getting out to a poor start in the VCT Americas split, during which they went 1-2 over the first three weeks, Sentinels made some adjustments to their roster in an effort to improve their performance. Following the team’s defeat against Leviatán in Week 3, the group decided to break ways with head coach Donald ‘SyykoNT’ Muir and promote assistant coach Kaplan to the head coaching position instead.

It was also disclosed that TenZ had been required to play while suffering from a finger injury in order for the Sentinels to have a player available to take his place in the lineup when he was injured. Even though the organization had already signed Marved to replace Hunter ‘SicK’ Mims after the latter was internally suspended, the Canadian controller only had a visa to compete in the league right before Week 4 of the VCT Americas.

On the 30th of April, during Week 5 of the VCT Americas, Sentinels will compete against Cloud9 to improve on their record of 2-3 and qualify for the playoffs.
