KRÜ Esports Suffers Quickest Defeat in VCT Americas History, Eliminated from Postseason Contention

In their loss against Leviatán by a score of 2-0, the team representing the Argentine organization known as KRÜ Esports played the shortest match ever in the VCT Americas.

Valorant esports team KRÜ Esports did not have a good experience during the first VCT Americas split that was held. The South American squad has not yet won a match in the league competition, and with two games still to play, they have already been eliminated from contention for a position in the postseason. To add insult to injury, KRÜ Esports created history in the VCT Americas when they played fellow South American side Leviatán on May 7. KRÜ was defeated in the best-of-three series by a score of 2-0, with scores of 13-4 on Haven and 13-4 on Split in what was the quickest match in the league up to that point.

Even considering the broadcast pauses between maps and during the half-time analysis segments, only an hour passed between the time the two teams walked onto the VCT stage and the moment Leviatán took their victory photo. It was even quicker than the match in Week 4 between Leviatán and MIBR, which featured one less round than this.

In the VCT Americas, KRÜ Esports is breaking all the wrong records

KRÜ decided to replace Santiago ‘DaveeyS’ Ruiz with the promising Brazilian prospect Carlos ‘Axeddy’ Alberto in an effort to salvage the remainder of their season. After two matches, the change has not produced any positive results so far.

Due to the fact that the Argentine team competed in every international competition in 2021 and 2022, the Argentine esports organization is not accustomed to seeing a loss of this magnitude in Valorant. The team was head and shoulders above any other side competing at that period, particularly in the South American region. It placed in the top four at the Valorant Champions 2021 tournament.

The fact that KRÜ is mathematically eliminated from postseason contention in the VCT Americas means that the team will be unable to compete in its first international tournament, VCT Masters Tokyo. Instead, the team will have to wait until the Americas last-chance qualification for a chance to compete in the Valorant Champions 2023 tournament.
