Daniel “Dafran” Francesca, a former professional player in the Overwatch League who now works as a farmer, demonstrated how lethal the Lifeweaver can be in the right hands and with specific characters. The introduction of the new support hero Lifeweaver in Overwatch 2 was met with a variety of reactions initially; however, the new hero has gradually begun to acquire respect due to a series of buffs and a reworked default control scheme.
The Thai character has developed into a potentially viable selection because of his capacity to save comrades from impending death when they’ve overextended themselves and drive allies to dangerous high-ground positions. During a Lifeweaver-only unranked to GM Twitch stream, Dafran was working his way up the Diamond tier when he found himself in a match on Eichenwalde. It was during this match that he began to feel inspired to come up with new strategies.
The Overwatch 2 lobby is under Dafran’s control thanks to his inventive Lifeweaver moves
When only 90 seconds remained to seize the objective and win the match, Dafran effectively used the Lifeweaver’s Tree of Life on the payload to provide additional healing for the team during the battle. The Danish streaming sensation used his Petal Platform to reach the chandeliers hanging from the roof of the castle while the other team was respawning in a last-ditch effort to thwart the invaders. At the same time, Soldier 76, one of Dafran’s allies, activated his Tactical Visor ultimate and Lifegripped himself up to the chandelier. From there, he shot down on their opponents.
This one-of-a-kind play brought to mind the famous chandelier Bastion from the Grand Finals of the Overwatch League Season 2 back in 2015 (OWL Season 2). To put the cherry on top of everything, when the enemy Reinhardt landed a massive Earthshatter onto Dafran’s squad, the support was able to Lifegrip one away while saving the other by using another Petal Platform on their road to victory. “Dude, insane game. After achieving the rating of Diamond 2, he clapped and exclaimed, “Lifeweaver, you’re a goddamn genius!”
Even right now, as Dafran shows, there is a great deal of potential with the game’s additional support, which will make it a lot more exciting to see all of the various strategies players come up with for Lifeweaver in the following weeks and months.
