Professional Smash player Mang0 calls out Nintendo on live stream

Joseph ‘Mang0’ Marquez, a professional Super Smash Bros. Melee player, called out Nintendo Live during a broadcast on Valorant after Riot did more for him in just ten seconds. The connection between the Smash community and Nintendo is contentious because the Japanese gaming giant needs to provide a different level of support for its esports sector than it does for other titles.

Throughout its existence, Nintendo has ended several competitions, including the appearance of Smash at EVO and, most recently, the Smash World Tour, which was slated to be the most critical competition in history. When Mang0 was at the VCT Americas league, he found himself being interviewed on stream. The question he posed was whether the Riot event was comparable to competitions featuring Nintendo’s flagship fighting game.

After receiving a burger from Riot, Mang0 makes fun of Nintendo

During the broadcast, a question was posed to Mang0 concerning his time spent in the Riot Games arena and the manner in which it compares to Smash competitions held in large convention centers. Mang0 did not skip a beat as he waves dashed his way into position to hit Nintendo with a scathing smash assault in response to the manner in which the business had treated the Melee community.

After saying this, he was met with a thunderous ovation from the audience. “So, Riot brought me a burger, which is more than Nintendo’s ever done for me,” he remarked. “I’ve been here for ten seconds and already love it, man.”

It is well known that Nintendo does not participate in Smash competitions, especially in terms of contributing any money to the prize pools. This lack of participation has earned Nintendo a lousy reputation. The infamous prize it won at EVO Japan was a controller, which Shuton came dangerously close to breaking. It is unclear what kind of burger Riot Games sent Mang0, but the Melee God’s message was so powerful that even C9 took the chance to tweet a clip of the Falso main discussing their feelings on the matter. When it is inevitable that another Smash game will be released, only time will tell if Nintendo will raise its game for it.
