Durex partners with Riot Games to advertise in League of Legends events

The condom and lubricant manufacturer Durex has entered into numerous cooperation agreements with Riot Games for the Chinese League of Legends league, the League of Legends Professional League, the League of Legends International, and the League World Championship. When it was announced, Twitter users quickly began making jokes about the new relationship.

Esports fans who tune in to watch League of Legends will notice a new brand on the broadcast: Durex. This is due to the fact that the condom manufacturer recently secured various contracts with Riot Games in order to advertise on the LPL, MSI, and Worlds broadcasts. Fans of the League considered the agreement humorous because it played into the typical gamer stereotypes, and they made fun of the news. In response to the announcement that the LPL Fanclub had made the news, one Twitter user stated, “Makes your video games last longer.” Someone else added, “They think League players leave their room,” in response to this statement.

Some people were curious whether the partnership would result in Durex putting the faces of LPL players on condoms. In response, someone asked how they could concentrate on opening a package when it bore the visage of Yu ‘JackeyLove’ Wen-Bo. “How am I going to focus on opening one of those?” they said.

The League of Legends Pro League fans have also made jokes about players involved in incidents involving women, such as Tang “Huanfeng” Huan-Feng and Li “Xiaohu” Yuan-Hao.

The LPL, MSI, and Worlds will all benefit from the relationship with Durex.

Although this is the first time Durex has participated in esports partnerships for League of Legends, it is not the first time the company has made a deal in the esports industry. Durex reportedly sponsored a Naraka Bladepoint event in 2022, as reported by The Esports Advocate.

Fans of the league should be able to witness the relationship come to fruition during the MSI broadcast, as the play-in stage of the international event is scheduled to begin on May 2. After the conclusion of the tournament, the other events that are a part of this partnership, the LPL, and the Worlds, will get underway, with the Worlds getting underway on October 10 at the earliest.
