Controversial Reprint in Commander Masters: MTG Players React to Zetalpa, Primal Dawn’s Return
A widely reprinted card is seeing another print in Commander Masters, which has both irritated and amused MTG players. Some gaming communities are convinced that Wizards of the Coast is playing a practical joke on them. Reprints of MTG Commander Masters form the bulk of the new Wizards of the Coast set. Numerous strong foundational cards from the Commander format will be reprinted as part of the set. Theoretically (we’ll have to wait and see in reality). This should make cards more affordable for typical players, often quite pricey on the singles market.
With cards like Jeweled Lotus, The Ur-Dragon, and Cyclonic Rift, we have already seen some incredibly alluring and priceless reprints. Players will be pursuing various things, and although they will pay more for the packs, there is a chance for massive draws. But every set has its trash, and some MTG players think Wizards of the Coast is playing a joke on them when it comes to one specific reprint.

Zetalpa, Primal Dawn has been identified as a component of Commander Masters, marking the sixth printing of the book. While several cards have been printed more than once. This one has only been produced six times since 2018 and is often seen in sets specifically geared at Commander. Due to previous reprints, people had been making jokes about seeing the card in Commander Masters again, but little did they realize Wizards was about to make a move. One player summed up the problem in a Reddit post by writing, “Wouldn’t be Commander Masters without the white Commander card they put in every Commander deck.” Another person lamented, “They can’t keep getting away with this.”
Someone said that it was humorous and that WotC need to do stand-up at this point. Wizard of the Coast may be playing into the prank with the reissue if they are aware of it. Given the cost of booster packs, it’s understandable if players are irritated at the thought of drawing yet another Zetalpa.
