The possibility that someone will miss “the early part” of the VCT Masters Tokyo owing to visa complications was disclosed by Paper Rex on June 4. The Singaporean organization further stated that it was working diligently to “expedite his travel documents.” And expressed its continued optimism that the player will reunite with the rest of the team for the competition’s later stages, “should the team make it deep into the playoffs.” Something teased that his visa issue had been handled on June 13 by posting a picture of the Crazy Raccoon offices, a Japanese group. According to Nikhil ‘nikH’ Hathiramani, co-founder and CEO of Paper Rex, the player was outside Tokyo. He noted that the visa application process “is moving forward” shortly after. Because of his circumstance, “it’s just very complicated and takes many steps,” nikH stated.
The absence of anything from Paper Rex’s initial match versus DRX was officially announced on June 17. The Russian duelist was replaced by backup player Patiphan ‘CigaretteS’ Posri, who has only participated in one official map this year. Paper Rex prevailed in that series even without their leading player, defeating VCT Pacific’s adversary by a score of 2-0. On June 19, they will play Fnatic in their next game. The triumph on Saturday increases the likelihood that Paper Rex will perform at least twice more in Tokyo and gives supporters more reason to be optimistic.
