Tarik draws a lot of attention to pro-Valorant because he is such a strong draw for viewers, and he actively promotes the scene by co-streaming some of Valorant’s most significant events, such as VCT Masters Tokyo. Tarik is assisting the scene in other ways as well, though. In addition, he decided to give $1,500 to Bonkers, a potent APAC team that needed help raising money to prepare for VCT Pacific Ascension. By giving the team some notoriety, they could raise money for their boot camp.
Tarik gives to the aspiring Valorant APAC professional team
Bonkers established themselves as the top team in Oceania while lacking any organizational esport support. In May 2023, 95X Esports terminated all players because the team’s outstanding domestic performance was insufficient to keep them sponsored. The team was searching for financing to stay in Thailand and test their mettle against players on a lot more populated and competitive server than what you can get in Oceania to find a way to boot-train and grow ahead of the forthcoming Pacific Ascension event. Tarik noticed the failing club and decided to intervene, investing some of his money in their growth and bringing attention to the squad. They’ve since achieved their objective.
The owner of the Indian Esports organization VLT, the Sentinel, also donated the cause a significant $2,000. The team’s GoFundMe campaign ended just before it reached $6,000 because it raised significantly more money than they had anticipated. Now it’s up to Bonkers to defeat Ascension and gain entry into the APAC League. They are undoubtedly underdogs compared to the other teams playing in APAC, but they have support from people worldwide who want to see them succeed.
