FaZe NICKMERCS Stands Firm: The Fallout of Activision’s Removal of His Operator Skin Bundle

FaZe NICKMERCS has, at long last, responded to Activision’s decision to remove his Call of Duty operator skin bundle from sale in Warzone and MW2 stores due to controversial comments he made regarding Pride Month in educational institutions. NICKMERCS’ operator skin was removed from the store on June 8 after he commented on “leaving little children alone” concerning Pride Month being honored in schools the day before. This comment was in response to Pride Month being acknowledged in schools the day before.

It didn’t take long for the criticism to start, with many fans of NICKMERCS deleting Call of Duty. This included fellow streamer Dr. Disrespect, who requested the corporation either apologize or return his package to the shop. It didn’t take long for the backlash to start coming in. NICKMERCS has broken his quiet and is standing by his statements, again refusing to bend the knee and apologize. This comes nearly a day after his skin was removed.

The response of NICKMERCS to COD removing his operator skin

The FaZe Clan member, known as “FaZe,” posted a message on Twitter. He expressed gratitude for the support he has been getting. While at the same time restating his contention that he did not intend for his statements to be nasty. “We make new friends when things are going well, but our families are forged in the fires of adversity.” Appreciate all of you that have my back, and realize the affection I have for all of you. And comprehend the situation I am in as a new father,” he stated. “There is no hatred in this heart,” he said.

It is unknown whether he is now seeking to get his skin added back to Call of Duty or when he will stream again. Nonetheless, since his bundle was removed, the Twitch symbol has yet to go online. It is unknown when he will flow again. Since their initial response to a story by CharlieIntel, stating that they had withdrawn the bundle due to “recent events,” Call of Duty has not made any other comments. Instead, they have indicated they are “focused on celebrating PRIDE with our employees and community.”

Considering the large number of streamers who have sided with NICKMERCS and the outrage that Activision’s decision has received. It will be fascinating to watch how this affects the series in the future and how it will affect future operator skins.
