Uzi’s Highly Anticipated Comeback: Joining EDG for the Summer Split in 2023

There are rumors that Uzi, one of the greatest ADCs in League of Legends history, will be making a significant comeback in 2023 as a member of the LPL powerhouse team Edward Gaming (EDG).

The most recent time Jian “Uzi” Zihao competed at the top level was with Royal Never Give Up at Worlds 2019, which occurred earlier this year. However, after sustaining an injury to his wrist, he called it quits and returned to a more laid-back lifestyle that included streaming and playing the game for enjoyment. He indeed signed with Bilibili Gaming in 2022. However, he played very little on the main roster, totaling nine appearances during the Spring split.

Even though the fanbase went wild over it, the appearance was more along the lines of a guest spot. Soon after, he stopped all of his professional activities and withdrew from the professional arena. Uzi plans to make a comeback during the Summer Split of the LPL in 2023, alongside EDG, to take the competitive scene seriously again.

Reportedly, EDG will be adding Uzi to their League of Legends lineup

Uzi’s transfer was announced on June 8, 2023. When EDG updated their OBGG to include the player’s name on their primary roster. The report was received at that time. LPL cast member 957 has validated this transfer as well. It appears that Uzi will take Hu ‘Leave’ Hongchao’s place in the starting lineup shortly.

Many of Leave’s supporters might be perplexed by Uzi’s sudden appearance. Still, those keeping up with the recent controversies involving Leave, which have damaged his reputation, will not be surprised. Leave’s public image has been damaged by these scandals. These include utilizing different profiles to flame his teammate Zhao ‘Jiejie’ Lijie and defend himself on social media.

When the Summer Split has already begun, it can be tough to locate new players because the other teams’ rosters are already set in stone and are not seeking replacements. With a record of 1-2 thus far in the regular season, EDG is currently in tenth place in the standings. There is little doubt that the return of Uzi will cause a significant amount of enthusiasm within the League of Legends community. The League of Legends Pro League fans are already getting excited about EDG’s next match. Which will take place on June 10, versus JD Gaming, the team that won the MSI. This match might pit Uzi against the Korean star Park ‘Ruler’ Jae-hyuk.
