The Controversial Clampdown: Social Media Restrictions in Madden 24 Beta Spark Speculation

Those who can play the beta version of Madden 24 need to watch their behavior on social media. To prepare for a full release, game creators can put the game’s engine through its paces in a closed beta and put the servers through their paces in a stress test.

The practice of releasing a restricted beta version of Madden by EA Sports has been standard practice, and the same is true for Madden 24. However, a tweak made for the beta version of this year’s game has content creators and football fans perplexed.

A curiously novel regulation for the restricted beta of Madden 24

Today, EA began sending out codes to participants in the closed beta test for Madden 24, which started on June 8. Players who have access to the beta will be able to compete in H2H Ranked, as well as participate in Franchise and Practice Modes. Later in the beta, the modes Superstar and Madden Ultimate Team will be available. This beta has various restrictions, the most important of which is that users are not permitted to share any videos or screenshots of the early edition of Madden 24 on any social media platforms or the internet.

That has been the norm for many years. Still, due to a peculiar adjustment this year, it is now prohibited for individuals to discuss it in any capacity on social media. This did not apply to the closed beta for Madden 23 a year ago. According to EA, individuals who engage in such behavior risk being kicked out of the test and may even have their access to all Madden accounts terminated. Some people are unhappy with this change, and there has been some conjecture among Madden players that EA may have some malicious reason for making this change.

The game’s first gameplay trailer was also available on June 7, the same day that the Madden 24 closed beta was made available to players. EA Sports said that Josh Allen, quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, will be featured on the game’s cover and confirmed that cross-play and the return of Superstar mode will be included in the game later in 2018. The release date for Madden 24 is currently slated for August 18.
