Viewers were in stitches after an Overwatch Contenders player made a terrible error and unintentionally eliminated his squad. Despite being among the best in the world and frequently outperforming OWL teams in talent, Korean Overwatch Contenders players are nevertheless susceptible to mistakes made by other people.
The teams opened up on Lijiang Tower during a recent match between FM and Duck. This is a map that favors the use of a Symmetra, even if just temporarily, to gain an advantage. Initially, Duck took possession of the position successfully, and Sierra, a Symmetra player, even picked up an enemy Tracer to start a fight. However, tragedy struck shortly after.
A professional Overwatch 2 player wipes out his team
Even though FM was able to respond with two of their kills, Duck appeared to Teleport behind the Hanzo adversary and attempted to engulf him.
Usually, being directly behind a Reinhardt and Baptiste would usually result in your death, but in this instance, the Teleporter was placed far too close to the tower’s edge. The two hilariously found themselves sliding off the map to their demise shortly after using the Teleporter, causing Sierra to leap off the edge and reset with the rest of the Contenders team.

“Griefing? Sierra, are you crying? The commentators laughed as they observed the mishap. Amazingly, Sp1nt was able to Pulse Bomb the whole Duck team as they passed through another teleporter on the next play, resulting in an astounding 4K. Duck managed to win the round on Lijiang despite the mistakes but ultimately lost the map 2-1. They would ultimately lose 3-0.
To be fair to Sierra, Rein, and Baptiste may have already perished by the time they took the Tele because they had just taken it when they were attacked by an Ana Biotic grenade and had a Brigitte smack her mace in their faces. Whatever the case, it only demonstrates that professionals can make some grave errors, just like players in the Bronze, Silver, and Gold metal tiers frequently do.
